Three months is a long time in the technical world. In the world of iPhone apps, it’s like a century. In light of the above, we wanted to update you on the developments with a best iPhone bencher app iBirkat, that saw its first release about a century ago.
We went a long way since then and what a surprise, people still use iPhones, pretty much same as back then. We did feel though, that for this new release we wanted to change the look of the app, so as a result, we substituted background images that used to show walls of the Kotel to a picture of some other walls of the Old City (this time at least I can take a credit for this picture, even though my camera didn’t live to see it).
Due to a limited amount of traditions for benching, otherwise known as nussachim, that we had in a previous version, we felt like there is place to expand. This time around we went wide and I mean it. Find me another bencher that has all of the following benching options: Ari, Ahskenaz, Eidut Hamizrach, Sefard, Yemenite tradition, Bendigamos (for YOU Ladino speaking people out there) and last but not least, English and Russian translations and transliterations.
If I've left anyone behind, please don’t judge too harshly I’m still learning, rather let me know what we can improve. And who knows, perhaps in a "century" from now, there will be a new version that implements your suggestions.
As for now, enjoy what we have prepared for you in iBirkat 2, working countless hours in a dark basement, powering our workstations with pedaling monkeys (turns out they don’t ask much, or at least they don’t complain eating our leftovers when we have any).
As usual, we appreciate your KIND words of encouragement, please keep it up, use our apps, rate them, write reviews, spread the word and don’t forget to brush your teeth in between (your wallets and significant others will appreciate it).
You are both geniuses! Changing the way prayer will be done around the world!
